Hey Nick. I actually met you and your amazing wife at the Carlyle a few years ago while after having consumed too many fancy martinis (I’m not the type who belongs at the carlyle). I believe we danced on stage together and for that I apologize.

I’m a tattooer and I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about your tattoos? And if you would ever get more/what they would be?

Thanks,

Sophie

Hi Nick - I saved this from earlier in the week and I'm so glad I did. Thanks for being such a kind human. As a new Wilco/Golden Smog/ Jeff Tweedy fan, I'm really enjoying the abundant content available from both you and Jeff. Thank you both!

First, you are perfectly lovely as you are, bearded, mustachioed or not, good sir! I love the Naked album so much. I have listened to an incalculable number of times. It has a strangely joyous energy for me.

As I grow older I’m finding hair to be a precious, nomadic foil, appearing to migrate from preferred locales to less than desirable neighborhoods like the ears and eyebrows. If you can still push out a beard with the presence of yours Nick, I say embrace it as a loyal friend!!

I share your love of David Byrne, and especially love the Brian Eno produced Talking Heads albums, of which Fear of Music is my favorite. I also love his visual art - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gea9SYUdJeY and his curated playlists.

If you had the time to learn a skill completely outside the realm of any of your current skills, what would you choose to learn?

Hey Nick, how Goethe? Names David. Hail from Charlotte, and love your various works...and face, lackbeard or fullbeard. Your eyes have intelligence and caring. You are a fan of "Naked", so you've got to be groovy. I remember digging Blind, Mr. Jones, Democratic Circus, Cool Water, and Nothing but Flowers. You got it! Stop Making Sense is another feast. When it played at Harvard Square Cinema, in the '80s, it sold out for weeks, like a live concert. Y'all should collaborate. Like linguist George Lakoff said in "Metaphors We Live By" love is a collaborative work of art. Peace and love. Write on!

So cool to see you live and in person at Solid Sound! BTW, FYI, and not to rub it in but David Byrne also played Buck Naked with Terry Allen on Sunday afternoon! You have a beautiful face no matter how much or how little hair is present. ❤️

I pull the hairs off my chinychinchin so my granddaughter does not try to pick them off when she sits on my lap......

Beard, no beard, you look great. You’re Nick. I just buzz mine down once every two weeks. No one cares, especially me. I hope to make it out to Solid Sound someday… east coast is so far away from here (west coast)…

Omigoodness but —- David Byrne!?! I saw that he was at Solid Sound and felt a sharp, hot pang of regret for not making it out there this year. <Womp Womp> I’m sorry you missed him too. Sounds like the whole weekend was absolutely brilliant.

This beard is so Epic I had to touch it in my mind - not in a denegrate way, mind you but in the reverent, two handed way that evokes the great mythic gods of yore. The beard of a men is a work of nature unto itself.
