It would be fun to do a Muleteer Meetup in Scotland. I assume most of us are in the states but a private event for paying subscribers would be fun (a lot of work, but also fun)

Nick,

These Donkey Thoughts have been a sincere delight. Many thanks.

Onto the question: Since you’ve mentioned having family in both the public education and library fields, I wonder what your go-to emergency lesson plan or activity might look like if you suddenly and inexplicably found yourself in front of a classroom full of students. Say, a high school theater class or perhaps middle school 3D Arts?

Much love from a teacher and librarian in southern Indiana,

CJ

I just watched your Lagavulin ads and your Dad steals the show. That grin is priceless!

Nick - it's so awesome that you continue to do work you enjoy. It makes me think of Alan Watts and his encouragement to do work that excites you, and gives you a sense of purpose.

Speaking of work, I was supposed to go to Scotland with my mom after I graduated from nursing school. The trip happened to overlap with my second week of nursing orientation classes, and I asked if I could make them up when I returned. My new manager gave me a choice between the trip or the job: "I can't guarantee the job will be here when you get back".

I chose the job over the trip, my aunt went in my place, and I've still never been to my ancestor's homeland (yet). It was a difficult choice when nursing jobs were in short supply, but that first role and the people I worked with are at the foundation of my 13 year nursing career. I have a job where I feel appreciated, and enjoy coming to work. I see that in the way you talk about your work. Keep it up!

Question: any suggestions for someone getting started on Substack? I recorded audio today that got all wonky (like it was fast-forwarded when I played it back). Any tips for the text, audio, or video content?

Thanks!

Watching those ads elicited a giggle from me that resembled that of a slightly sleep-deprived Nick Offerman, and for that, I thank thee.

Hello nick, I guess I’ll get straight to it. I’m currently finishing paddle your own canoe and it has unknowingly throw me into a deep desperation to pursue stand up and the performing arts. I’m from San Antonio Texas and your mention of your friend Bob Byington in Austin brought the question to mind is that the premiere place to perform in my state/region? If yes, do you know of any good places to start? Sorry to type a book friend, have a kick ass day.
