Hi Nick. I agree with you about New Mexico. The landscape is beautiful, if I wasn't so concerned about water, I would love to retire there.

A few questions for you.

1. Straight Razor, double edged safety razor, or commercial mass produced multi blade razor?

2. I plan on turning a shaving brush handle out of purple heart and I am not sure the best way to finish it. I think a CA glue finish would be too brittle. Do you think a spar varnish would hold up?

3. When did you realize you had such an amazing laugh/giggle?

Thanks,

Dan in D.C. (but like my wife tells me, they can take the boy out of NJ, but they can't take the NJ out of the boy)

I spent about a month in Tehachapi with my Uncle, I remember that time fondly, Beautiful place.

I listened to "California Stars" when I was in the desert at night, and whenever I am feeling down I go back in my head. Oh and Andrew 😍

Hello sir. Might you expound upon the process of collaborating with Lagavulin to develop the Offerman Edition 11yr Islay Scotch Whisky? I am intrigued as to how one approaches such a seemingly monumental task.

Thank you,

P.S. Is there perchance another tour planned for the future? American Ham was a delight.

Just finished "WtDatAP". Usually get to them quicker, but it was somewhat popular in the library queue. Some interesting points that merit further discussion. Literary wilderness author/place to consider. Sigurd Olson and Listening Point. "The Singing Wilderness" and "Reflections from the North Country". He attended UW-Madison and the Univ of IL. Check out Dorothy Molter, a kick ass woodswoman. I could help you with the BWCAW.

Hello Nick,

I would like to share with you a film that I think you would very much enjoy. Its about two transhumance shepherds here in Switzerland that I met a few years back. Its a touching film that shows the beauty and hardship of transhumance shepherding in this modern world.

The film is called "Winter Nomads"

Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evEpSuIfiLg&t=9s

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The word “pleasantly” doesn’t do it justice, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this space.

It makes the first few hours of Monday (and Friday) morning all the more pleasurable, considering there’s a countdown to being handcuffed to a desk for 8 hours.

There’s a number of wilderness/countryside/nature based tv shows, Scotland: Escape To The Wilderness, The Lakes With Simon Reeve, Back To Nature (and I’m sure heaps more outside of Uk/Au too - if anyone else has any recommendations please send them over!) where it’s about the relationship with country instead of survival skills.

If you could do a tv show about country/nature where and what would it be on?

New subscribers here. My husband and I have been arguing about who gets to post a question to you first. We reached a stalemate so you get both.

Carlos asks: When did you first realize that something was really wrong with you?

Marni asks: are you working on another book because I’m feeling offerman deficient right now.

Do you ever travel to where your ancestors came from and try to picture the lives they must have led? Does their food taste familiar, even though you've never had it before?

My ancestors are overwhelmingly from Ireland and Scotland, and I have certainly traveled there and found that I had been craving their beverages all along. There are also simple, specific, workaday dishes in these nations as well as England herself that taste to me like they're all I'll ever need. The Scotch Egg, Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash, Sunday Roast with Yorkshire Puddings, Shepherd's Pie, etc.

Can you please turn up the recording volume, Nick. Some of us older folks can't hear, even with the volume turned up all the way on the computer.
