I have many hats, but don’t have a leisure hat... yet. Father’s Day is just around the corner.

Also, I can attest to a warm fuzzy feeling when I pull up at a stoplight next to someone who was honking and speeding by me in such a hurry.

Also, I have always enjoyed starting up conversations while in line at places. Standing in line is an opportunity for listening and learning.

Thanks for your thoughts on this beautiful Sunday (on a Monday).

I agree. Let’s all use the stop signs.

What you've touched on is a human malady whose list of side effects extends well beyond stop signs and baggage claim, as evidenced by the broad social, political and intellectual schisms infecting the fragile foundations of our very existence. In addition to donning a leisure hat, I suggest we take a moment to push ourselves away from the gluttonous social media buffet and hero worship of people making a living pandering to our most primal fears and insecurities. I appreciate the reminder of critical skills we are all taught in Kindergarten...kindness and helping others. Let's make that a thing!

Thanks Nick. I drive for a living and find that if people don’t cut me off or speed to get ahead of me, there may not be coffee left for them when they pull in to a Starbucks,or whatever, 100 yards down the road. You should really make a PSA. Your giggles were wonderful. People seem to be entitled. My only fear is that, being a cynic, one day you’ll be arrested smuggling some 80year old gentleman’s cocaine.

Nice message Thank you for sharing. Your hat, Mr Rogers' sweater. It is an interestingly fine line between a deeply satisfying interaction and an angry one, like your experience with the older fellow. Being a good neighbor is often just setting an example for others to follow.

Oh that thing about waiting at baggage claim... this has amused me for so long. It's always signified to me that the vacation is over. Such unnecessary group tension. Stand back a bit, relax, let everyone have a view of the conveyor, and maybe you won't get hit by my case when I reach past you to grab it.

Yeah, like at the ballgame, after it is over every one is rushing out to get in log jam in parking lot. I found that I quite like a empty stadium.

Hi Nick, I love your leisure hat!

You're so right about they way people are behaving while driving and waiting in lines, etc. Things have gotten so much worse over the past several years. Stop signs are for stopping!

I so appreciate your basic, common decency. There should be more people like you.

Nick, I think you could really start some great fads on here!

Funny enough, on a walk in the forest preserve today we saw a group of ladies dressed up with floppy hats taking pictures. My husband and I enjoy figuring out what people are up to while they're out, a bridal shower or birthday or whatever. His guess was that it was floppy hat day.

A while later they ended up on the same bridge and my husband asked "what's the occasion", and I kid you not, their response was "we just wanted to take pictures dressed up in fancy hats".

Leisure. So necessary, yet hard to prioritize.

Happy Sunday !

Where can I get a leisure hat and make my partner buy one for me then? I really like the color you have and now want one too.

I always think these hypotheticals too. I think.. what if my mom is crossing the street and this person doesn’t care enough to stop? This one person decided her life isn’t important enough to slow down for a few seconds so she isn’t hurt. It’s crazy how selfish people are. It’s even crazier that some people won’t ever feel guilty for doing something wrong. I don’t know how they manage to get by like that. I walk the world carefully. I hate the feeling of guilt so I avoid doing things that make me feel that way.

Glad to see you’re doing well. I’m about to travel too and hope I don’t come across any baggage claim people huddled all together.

Stay safe Nick!!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful Pentecost gospel of just not trying to vehicularly manslaughter each other! I know it had to have taken some learning, having one time in my life had to drive down to Temecula from LAX and not be late to my cousin's wedding (having missed my flight the day before), so I applaud and appreciate it.

It was a bomb-ass wedding, BTW.
