Wait - do you own a Billy Jack hat? Have we seen a photo of you in a Billy Jack hat? I would like to see that!

Thanks for this, Nick. Your Donkey Thoughts musings have the makings of a book. I am an OG founding muleteer and enjoy the video versions, but the audio messages have their own unique appeal in that I feel like I'm listening to one of your audio books.

One thing I've always wondered. Is your woodshop self-sustaining (I'm a repeat patron), or do you support its ongoing existence due to your love of the craft and to support your employees?

I was collecting tools the same way you described. My wake-up call came when I learned of Stanley 45 planes and decided to go to the magic marketplace- Ebay. Went a little crazy- if one was good, why not two. My god, there's another pretty one. Soon had a large number in hand when reality returned. I know I will try to use all of them as I restore them, but when that happens is unknown. Very steep learning curve! Thank you, YouTube. Like an alcoholic avoiding the liquor store, I haven't been back to Ebay. Don't get me started on Yankee drills, chisels, ratchet wrenches, manual drills... could open a small country hardware store. Keep up the good work! From La Porte, Texas

That looks like a fabulous collection of Japanese chisels! I have one lovely Japanese skew chisel I like, stays sharp and the hollow on the back is nice for flattening the back. I have found that I love my vintage chisels and gouges better than most modern ones, but perhaps I should think about some lovely chisels like the ones you have. I would love to hear more about your set when you find the time.

Billy Jack was a classic for sure and I always loved the old Kung Fu and Jackie Chen Movies in the 70's too.

Thanks again for doing all of these snippets. It's so great to hear your deep velvet voice.

The collecting bug hit me early and hard. As I’m getting older, I feel the need to get rid of stuff but it’s very difficult. Not sure I want to take all these vintage Mason jars with me to the grave! Thanks for sharing the addiction. Is there anything you are planning to gift to the Smithsonian?

I’m from NYC. I’ve been able to amass a small collection of cool rocks but don’t have the space yet for cool chunks of wood!
