Vamanos a España

or build a Windsor chair.

Joe, from the internet but also a location approximately two planes and two trains from northwestern Spain, writes, “Over the years, I visited a few places. I discovered that the reason I gravitated to many places was that people made these beautiful locations even richer. I met a wonderful person called Juan in Lugo, Spain. Last October and November, I took two planes and two trains to live in Lugo for 32 days. I like to be a so-called fish out of water, learn the culture, work on language skills, and write. I’ll treasure that experience for the rest of my days. Plus, it was a deliberate choice which made it even more grand. Question: Have you ever made an effort, not media or work related, to go somewhere new and take joy in everyday being a learning experience?”

Thanks for your excellent question, Joe. It has inspired a nice, clumsy ramble, even if I have a long way to go to catch up with your Lugo experience. Given all the people, places, and meat-delivery systems that exist in the world, I don’t understand how anyone can ever say they’re bored.

Have a great day, my fellow muleteers, and leave me your questions in the comments when you’re done booking passage to Lugo.

Love,

If you pitch in and become a patron, maybe some day soon I will afford a background to this video location!

I saw this Galbert settee in person at the Oakland home/studio of the late, magnificent Garry Knox Bennett…he said it was one of the most exquisite objects he’d ever seen and he had to buy it.

Bonus? Three fun-loving, bookish friends who mean well. Photo: Great Question 2015
